It’s scary to think of somebody who plays like Omenihu as raw. Omenihu, who is Nigerian, might as well be Wakandan as he looks like he would win if he challenged T’Challa for the throne.
He already has experience taking down quarterbacks like Kyler Murray, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield. When you watch his film, he plays like the ball is his and the quarterback stole it. He also works the chop well to try to create turnovers.
That being said, it does seem like the scheme will affect how he contributes at the next level. He fits best on the edge but has the size and power to slide inside.
What he lacks in instincts he certainly makes up for in strength and explosiveness. He was named the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year after recording 18 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery for the Longhorns.
At Rowlett High School in Texas he was coached by Doug Stephens and recorded 61 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 23 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles as a senior.
Both parts of the defensive line - edge rushers and interior - have been graded as the strongest position groups in the upcoming draft. Omenihu just adds to that. Depending on the depth of the team who takes him, he may not be an immediate starter but will certainly be a rotational player.
